Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did ”feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Tony | We took the second weekend in July and headed to Wisconsin to spend time with family and celebrate Emily's Grandpa Lee McCrummen's 80th birthday! It was a beautiful Friday in Door County, after a fun filled morning that included riding around on Cathy's sweet Vespa, a trip to Tony's favorite breakfast spot The Good Egg, and a stop by the visiting McCrummen clan's cottage. Emily asked her father Jim to take the kids on an afternoon boat ride, little did she know she was playing right into her boyfriend's plans. After a good while on the water, they headed back in and docked the boat. Tony asked Emily if she wanted to walk the half mile trip back to the cottage.
Emily | I seriously played right into his plan. On our walk back I was the one who suggested we stop at Anderson Dock! With the box in his pocket he wasn't sure how but thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get a few minutes alone with Emily. As their walk began she asked if they could make a quick stop on Anderson Dock so she could freshen up.
Tony | Anderson Dock was the perfect place to ask the question, it was the dock in which Emily's late grandpa Joe used to take her fishing as a child. Tony sat and waited for Emily on the dock's lone bench, when she arrived she sat beside him and they spent the next thirty minutes talking about life and where their futures may bring them. The talk of their future was the perfect segue for Tony to get down on one knee. He knelt down and asked Emily “Will you marry me?” She initially greeted his question with shock, laughter, and repeatedly asking “Is this real?” After the initial shock wore off she wiped the tears from her eyes and said “Yes, of course!
Emily | I did NOT see this coming! I knew it was only a matter of time before we became engaged, Tony was very respectful of me finishing graduate school and getting a job before asking me to marry him. With all my ducks in a row this was naturally the next step! I thought it would more than likely be before the start of the football season but not then. I honestly hadn’t showered, looked a mess, laughed, cried and he still wanted to marry me!
